Nice Work If You Can Get It is welcoming some new faces this spring—and a familiar one, too! Broadway alums John Treacy Egan and Conrad John Schuck will be joining previously announced Tony nominee Jessie Mueller in Nice Work If You Can Get It on March 29 as Chief Berry and Senator Max Evergreen, respectively. Additionally, as previously speculated, original cast member Estelle Parsons will return to the Imperial Theatre as Millicent Winter on April 30, succeeding current star Blythe Danner.
Show stars Kelli O’Hara, Stanley Wayne Mathis and Terry Beaver played their final performance on March 24, and Danner will play her final performance on April 28. Understudies will assume the roles of Billie Bendix, Chief Barry and Senator Max Evergreen until March 29.
The production also stars two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick as Jimmy Winter, two-time Tony winner Judy Kaye as Estonia Dulworth, Tony winner Michael McGrath as Cookie McGee, Tony nominee Jennifer Laura Thompson as Eileen Evergreen, Chris Sullivan as Duke Mahoney and Robyn Hurder as Jeannie Muldoon. Featuring a score of classic songs from the Gershwin catalogue, Nice Work If You Can Get It tells the story of rich playboy Jimmy Winter (Broderick), who falls head over heels for rough bootlegger Billie Bendix (Mueller) on the weekend of his wedding. Directed and choreographed by Kathleen Marshall, the production features music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Joe DiPietro.
Parsons earned Tony nominations for The Seven Descents of Myrtle, And Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, Miss Margarida’s Way and Morning’s at Seven. Her many film and TV credits include Roseanne, Watermelon Man, I Never Sang for My Father, A Memory of Two Mondays, Dick Tracy, Boys on the Side and Bonnie and Clyde, for which she earned an Academy Award. After the show's Broadway postponement, Parsons is scheduled to star in The Velocity of Autumn at D.C.’s Arena Stage from September 6 through October 20.
Egan’s Broadway credits include Jekyll & Hyde, The Producers, The Little Mermaid, Bye Bye Birdie and Sister Act. His film and TV credits include the 2005 film adaptation of The Producers, Last Night, 30 Rock and Boardwalk Empire.
Schuck appeared on Broadway in Annie and Annie Get Your Gun. His film and TV credits include M*A*S*H*, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, The Curse of the Jade Scorpion, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Zeke and Luther, The Munsters Today and the 2006 TV broadcast of South Pacific in concert at Carnegie Hall.
